【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusedasameansofdeterminingthequalityofcementedcarbidegradepowdersbymeasuringtheirsinteredstrength.Itisperformedontestspecimenspreparedtospecifiedshape,dimensions,andsurfacefinish;testspecimensmaybepreparedfromfinishedpartsifsizepermits.Thereisnoknownstandardmaterialforthistestmethod.Thetransverserupturestrengthofcementedcarbidesisnotadesignvalue.Mostcommercialcementedcarbideshavemechanicalbehaviorthatisbestclassifiedasbrittle(negligibleductility).Fracturestrengthsaredependentoninternalorsurfaceflaws.Examplesofincoherentinternalflawsaremacropores,TypeBporosity(seeTestMethodB276),andinclusionsofforeignparticles.Suchflawsarerandomlydistributedspatiallyandinsizewithinthesinteredmaterial.Thisimpartsastatisticalnaturetoanytransverserupturestrengthmeasurement.Thestressdistributioninabeaminthree-pointloadingisnon-uniform.Itincreaseslinearlyalongthespantoamaximumatthecenter,andvarieslinearlythroughanysectionfromcompressiononthetoptotensiononthebottom.Themaximumtensilestressthereforeoccursatcenterspaninthebottommostfibersofthesample,andisdefinedasthetransverserupturestrengthatfailure.Failureisinitiatedatarandomflawsite,whichismostprobablynotcoincidentwiththemaximumstress.Thisimpartsanadditionalstatisticalnaturetotransverserupturestrengthmeasurements.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthetransverserupturestrengthofcementedcarbides.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIvaluesinparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
