【摘要】:Thispracticeprovidesarationalmethodforstructuraldesignofthermoplasticstormwaterchambers.Theloads,capacities,andlimitstatesarebasedonacceptedloadandresistancefactordesignforthermoplasticpipes;however,existingdesignspecificationsforthermoplasticpipesdonotadequatelyaddressthedesignofchambersdueto(1)open-bottomgeometry,(2)supportonintegralfoot,(3)varyingcircumferentialcorrugationgeometry,and(4)manufacturewithalternativethermoplasticresin.Thispracticestandardizesrecommendationsfordesignerstoadequatelyaddresstheseaspectsofchamberdesign.Thispracticeiswrittentoallowchambermanufacturerstoevaluatechambersmeetingexistingclassificationsandtodesignchambersfornewclassificationsastheyaredeveloped.1.1Thispracticestandardizesstructuraldesignofthermoplasticcorrugatedwallarch-shapedchambersusedforcollection,detention,andretentionofstormwaterrunoff.Thepracticeisforchambersinstalledinatrenchorbedandsubjectedtoearthandliveloads.Structuraldesignincludesthecompositesystemmadeupofthechamberarch,thechamberfoot,andthesoilenvelope.Relevantrecognizedpracticesincludedesignofthermoplasticculvertpipesanddesignoffoundations.1.2Thispracticestandardizesmethodsformanufacturersofburiedthermoplasticstructurestodesignforthetimedependentbehaviorofplasticsusingsoilsupportasanintegralpartofthestructuralsystem.Thispracticeisnotapplicabletothermoplasticstructuresthatdonotincludesoilsupportasacomponentofthestructuralsystem.1.3Thispracticeislimitedtostructuraldesignanddoesnotprovideguidanceonhydraulic,hydrologic,orenvironmentaldesignconsiderationsthatmayneedtobeaddressedforfunctionaluseofstormwatercollectionchambers.1.4Stormwaterchambersaremostcommonlyembeddedinopengraded,angularaggregatewhichprovidebothstructuralsupportandopenporosityforwaterstorage.Shouldsoilsotherthanopengraded,angularaggregatebespecifiedforembedment,otherinstallationandfunctionalconcernsmayneedtobeaddressedthatareoutsidethescopeofthispractice.1.5Chambersareproducedinarchshapestomeetclassificationsthatspecifychamberrise,chamberspan,minimumfootwidth,minimumwallthickness,andminimumarchstiffnessconstant.Chambersaremanufacturedwithintegralfootings.1.6PolypropylenechamberclassificationsarefoundinSpecificationF2418.SpecificationF2418alsospecifieschambermanufactureandqualification.1.7Thispracticeisapplicabletodesignininch-poundunits.TheSIunitsinparenthesisaregivenforinformationonly.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
